Elena Monarch, Ph.D.
Dr. Monarch is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and owner of the Lyme and PANS Treatment Center in Cohasset, MA. After obtaining her BA from Saint Anselm College, she earned her Master’s and PhD from Emory University. Her Residency and Post-Doctoral programs at the University of Washington included Health Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Inpatient Psychiatry. Dr. Monarch has published numerous scientific articles and chapters in the area of neuropsychology and health psychology, and she has presented her research at national conferences. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the International Lyme & Associated Diseases Society (ILADS).
Through her twenty years of conducting Neuropsychological evaluations for patients, Dr. Monarch learned that some of her patients presenting with common psychiatric symptoms (such as OCD, anxiety, depression, and cognitive complaints) were, in fact, suffering from health problems such as Lyme disease. She became increasingly concerned about the impact of undiagnosed infections and misdirected immune responses on mental health. Six years ago she began treating children and teens with pediatric autoimmune disorders (PANS and PANDAS). Dr. Monarch is passionate about this work because she has watched patients uncover and treat infections, recover from debilitating mental health conditions, and resume their lives.
In addition to providing evaluations, Dr. Monarch provides therapy and support services to individuals and families suffering from health-related difficulties. Her current interests include family therapy, parenting support, communication skills training, school/business consultations, neuropsychology, developmental disorders, stress/anxiety management, PANDAS/PANS, Lyme disease, and the psychological effects of other tick-borne illnesses. Outside of work, Dr. Monarch enjoys cooking, family-time, and CrossFit.
