FEATURED SPEAKERS

Elena Monarch, Ph.D.

Dr. Monarch is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and owner of the Lyme and PANS Treatment Center in Cohasset, MA. After obtaining her BA from Saint Anselm College, she earned her Master’s and PhD from Emory University. Her Residency and Post-Doctoral programs at the University of Washington included Health Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Inpatient Psychiatry. Dr. Monarch has published numerous scientific articles and chapters in the area of neuropsychology and health psychology, and she has presented her research at national conferences. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the International Lyme & Associated Diseases Society (ILADS).

Through her twenty years of conducting Neuropsychological evaluations for patients, Dr. Monarch learned that some of her patients presenting with common psychiatric symptoms (such as OCD, anxiety, depression, and cognitive complaints) were, in fact, suffering from health problems such as Lyme disease. She became increasingly concerned about the impact of undiagnosed infections and misdirected immune responses on mental health. Six years ago she began treating children and teens with pediatric autoimmune disorders (PANS and PANDAS). Dr. Monarch is passionate about this work because she has watched patients uncover and treat infections, recover from debilitating mental health conditions, and resume their lives.

In addition to providing evaluations, Dr. Monarch provides therapy and support services to individuals and families suffering from health-related difficulties. Her current interests include family therapy, parenting support, communication skills training, school/business consultations, neuropsychology, developmental disorders, stress/anxiety management, PANDAS/PANS, Lyme disease, and the psychological effects of other tick-borne illnesses. Outside of work, Dr. Monarch enjoys cooking, family-time, and CrossFit.

Kenneth A. Bock, M.D.

Kenneth A. Bock, M.D. graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo and received his M.D. degree with Honors from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine, a certified clinical nutrition specialist, and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, the American College of Nutrition, and the American College for Advancement in Medicine, of which he is a former President. He is also a faculty member of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).

For more than three decades, he has dealt with complex medical problems by integrating “alternative” modalities with conventional medicine into a comprehensive integrative medicine practice. His expertise lies in tackling problems that have been difficult to diagnose and/or treat. These include complex multisystem disorders, including chronic and/or recurrent infections, autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease and other tick borne disorders, as well as multiple childhood disorders, including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, asthma, and allergies.

Dr. Bock has lectured widely, both at home and abroad, on a wide range of topics, including integrative approaches to immune system imbalances/disorders; detoxification; and the treatment of complex chronic illness, including Lyme disease. He has written for general interest publications and has been a contributing author to numerous published articles and studies in medical journals. He is also the co-author of four books, including Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma and Allergies, which has increased global awareness of biomedical approaches for the 4-A disorders, subsequently helping people all over the world. Furthermore, he is a regular participant in the Autism Research Institute’s annual Think Tank, bringing together 40-50 experts from around the world to tackle the global issue of autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Bock’s office, Bock Integrative Medicine, is located in Dutchess County, New York, in the beautiful Hudson Valley. He sees patients there from around the country and the world. He consults with physicians, companies, and institutions as well as patients and their families. Dr. Bock is married with two children and lives in rural Bearsville, New York, where he enjoys many outdoor activities, including tennis, golf, hiking, and kayaking.
